history of data storage

information technology main part is data storage so we discuss history of Data storage.

Early electronic computers such as colossus made use of punched tape a long strip of paper on which data was represented by a series of holes, a technology now obsolete. electronic data storage which is used in modern computer dates from the second world war when a form of delay line memory was developed to remove the clutter from radar signals the first practical application of which was the mercure delay line. the first random access digital storage device was the williams tube based on standard cathode ray tube but the information stored in it and delay line memory was volatile in that it had to be continuously refreshed and thus was lost once power was removed. the earliest form of nin volatile computer storage was the magnetic drum invented in 1932 and used in the ferranti mark 1 the world's first commercially available general purpose electronic computer.
most digital data today is still stored magnetically on devices such as hard disk drives or optically on media such as CD-ROM's.

What types of technology does "information technology" Include?

Information technology is a broad field with a vague definition. It generally refers to any type of technology we use to communicate . so what types of technology does"Information technology" include?
To establish exactly what types of technology are part of the IT field it helps to understand an information technology specialist's duties. this can be tricky because information technology includes many specialization and an it professional's duties can vary widely depending on their particular  workplace, position, and location.
However knowing how IT professionals work with technology helps narrow the types of technology referred to by "IT"here are some of the possible duties that information technology specialist may have in the professional world.
  • installing and uninstalling software
  • troubleshooting,diagnosing,and repairing computers
  • Designing,building,and upgrading computers
  • Establishing and managing computer networks
  • developing and maintaining databases
  • helping people use computers and other technology effectively
from this list of potential responsibilities,it's clear that IT includes a wide range of technologies.

Recent development in information technology in India

The economic effect of the technologically services sector in india accounting for 40% of the country's GDP and 30% of export earnings as of 2006 while employing only 25% of its workforce is summarized by sharma(2006).
today Bangalore is known as the silicon valley of india and contributes 33% of indian IT exports. India's second and third largest software largest software companies are head quarted in Bangalore as many of the gobal SEI-CMM level 5 companies
Mumbai too has its share of IT companies that are India's first and largest like T CS and well establishment like reliance, patni,Lnt ,infotech, i-Flex,Wns ,shine etc. are head quarter in Mumbai,Delhi,Chennai.and these companies are ruling the roost of Mumbai's relatively high octane industry of information technology. such as the growth in investment and outsourcing, it was revealed that cap Gemini will soon have more staff in India than it does in its home market of France with 21000 personnel+ in India.

History of information technology in India

The Indian government acquired the EVS EM computers from the soviet union which were used in large companies and research laboratories. In 1968 Tata consultancy service establishment in SEEP Z, Mumbai by the Tata group were the country's largest software producers during the 1960s. As an outcome of the various policies ofNehru the economically beleaguered country was able to build a larger scientific workforce third in no only to the of the usa and the soviet union. on 18 august 1951 the minister of education inaugurated the IIOT at west Bengle. Possibly modeled after the MIOT these institutions were conceived by a 22 member committee and  scholars and entrepreneurs under the chairmanship of N.R sarkar
relaxed immigration laws in the USA(1965) attracted a number of skilled Indian professionals aiming for research by 1960 as many as 10000 Indians were estimated to have settled in the US by the 1980s a number of engineers from India were seeking employment in other countries. In response the Indian companies realigned wages to retain their experienced staff..

Information technology in india

The information technology industry in India has gained a branch identity as a knowledge economy due to its IT and ITES sector. the IT-ITES industry has two major components. IT Service and business process outsourcing(BPO). the growth in the service sector in India has been led by the IT-TIES sector contributing substantially to increase GDP employment and exports. the sector has increased its contributing to India's GDP from 1.2% in FY 1998 to 7.5% in FY2012. The major cities that account for about nearly 90% of this sectors exports are Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and kolkata. Bangalore is considered to be be the silicon Vally of India because it is the leading IT exporter.Export dominate the IT-TIES industry.

History of computers

History of computers

Devices have been used to aid computation for thousands of years, probably initially in the form of  a tally stick. the antikythera mechanism, dating from about the beginning of the first century BC is generally considered to be the earliest known mechanical analog computer, it is also the earliest known geared mechanism. comparable geared devices did not emerge in Europe until the 16th century, ans it was not until 1645 that the first mechanical calculator capable of performing the four basic arithmetical operation was developed. electronic computers using either relays or valves began to appear in the early 1940s. the electromechanical zuse z3 completed in 1941 was the world's first programmable computer and by modern standards one of the first machines that could be considered a complete computing machine. It was programmable  it was not general purpose being designed to perform only  a single task. it also lacked the ability to store nits program in memory
